Numbered Limited Edition Black Shonan - Two Ways

 This Numbered Limited Edition is a special one! I have had this belt planned for months, and just recently someone asked me if I'd ever thought about making a belt inspired by my dog, Viago, whom if you follow me on Instagram, you have surely seen in my stories! They suggested black leather + black nickel hardware. I had not made the association with Viago on my own, but I was excited to tell him that I had exactly that belt planned! 

The leather used for this release is a glazed vegetable tanned leather in black from the Shonan tannery in Japan. This is the first time I have used this leather in this color. It is quite thick, ranging between 13-14oz (or between 5-5.5mm) and has a medium firmness that should break in nicely. The dye is water-based and has not been struck through, so there is still a natural core within the leather, however the dye does penetrate quite deeply and I do not anticipate that this leather will display any "teacore" qualities.

As with all Numbered Limited Editions, every belt is numbered and once they sell out, they will be gone forever. Unlike most previous releases, this leather is being done two ways! The signature "Viago" is a blacked-out beauty paired with the newest hardware finish from Japan - Black Nickel. The second version swaps out the Black Nickel in favor of Solid Brass. Both belts are hand-stitched with my signature double row stitching-scheme that I only use on limited releases such as this one, both rows of Ritza Tiger threads are black in keeping with the blacked-out theme.

Both the "Viago" Black Nickel and the Solid Brass versions are limited to only 15 pieces each. 

If you are having difficulty deciding between the two, you should know that the black nickel finish will largely remain the same in appearance with wear, while the brass will develop a rich patina.
